Quality or quantity? 质还是量？（转）
英语里有些词语十分相像，意思上也有些联系，故很容易混淆，需要特别当心。今天我们就来看两个词，quality和quantity。
quality 是“质量”的意思，比如 goods of first-rate quality 是指“一流品质的货物”，下面试举几例：
Poor quality goods won't sell easily. 品质差的货物不好卖。
We manufacture goods of various qualities. 我们制造各种不同品质的货物。
quantity 表示“数量”，请看例句：
There's only a small quantity left. 只剩下少量。
What quantity do you want? 你要多少？
其复数形式quantities则表示“大量的”，比如：
We've had quantities of rain this summer. 今年夏天雨下得很多。
He buys things in large quantities. 他总是大宗采购东西。
“我们重质不重量”这句可以译为：We prefer quality to quantity. 或者：We aim at quality rather than quantity.
好了，“质”与“量”的关系弄清楚了么？下次使用时可要小心呀。
